LOWER ELEMENTARY

GRADES 1 - 3

 

With the basics learned from preschool and kindergarten, children continue to develop there skills in the Lower Elementary program (ages 6-9).

 

Mathematics

The rules and and laws of mathematics are being put to the test. Students will become more proficient in addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication, as well as higher place values. The math materials give the children the opportunity to manipulate and see what they are putting to the test.

 

Language Arts

In Montessori, Lower Elementary language becomes more abstract. Not only do the children focus on better developing their reading and writing, but they get more focus on literature, grammar, and word order.

 

Science

The child learns about scientific principles, what makes something living or non-living, and the different classes of plants and animals.

Geography

The Lower Elementary grades focal point is more on physical geography. This includes the theories and beliefs of the Earth's creation, the elements, and the relation between the planets, and the water cycle.

 

Computer Skills

Computer knowledge and typing is responsibly introduced and developed.
